I am from London and have been teaching Business and General English full-time in Moscow for over 10 years. I speak basic Russian. My background is as follows:
I studied economics and sociology and afterwards moved into banking and finance in the City of London.I have been based in Moscow for over 15 years. Prior to relocating to Russia, I worked mainly in the City of London in investment banking, working for such companies as Credit Suisse First Boston (which included 2 years in the Singapore Office setting-up and establishing their commercial activities) and have travelled widely to USA, South and Central America, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union. I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (a very highly regarded and prestigious institute in the UK financial markets).
I first became active in teaching whilst still a banker, being involved in graduate recruitment programmes, acting as a tutor and holding product-specific seminars. On becoming more focussed on Russia and Eastern Europe, I complemented business trips in the region with seminars in the newly-opened branch offices. The content ranged from quite technical financial subjects to presentations and sales skills, dealing with senior executives in business meetings, to communicating clearly and effectively with the business hubs in London and New York. This continued after leaving banking and I became a full-time English teacher in 2007.
My lessons consist mainly of general and business English and grammar, plus business training and related skills, with an emphasis on comprehension (understanding) native speakers; and speaking English with good pronunciation and a clear accent.
Lastly, my clients include (and have included) very senior business people, entrepreneurs and middle-management, as well as some teenagers and university students. I can teach all levels, but generally focus on pre-intermediate and above.
